DIP n’ DINE 2015
This CTM initiative that began in 2012 at Plaza Athenee, a Royal Meridien Hotel continues till this day — offering disadvantaged kids a topclass treat of swimming & dining in this five-star hotel. This year, the Thanksgiving Home, a community for developmentally-challenged kids and teens, were the happy recipients. On a warm Sunday afternoon on Nov. 29th, the TGH team quickly rolled out of their crowded van. It was sheer relief to get quickly up to the 4th floor, and get into their swimsuits, Soon enough, they were having a splashin’ good time! After enjoying the cool dip amidst the lovely sunset in the hotel’s beautifully landscaped poolside, it was time to move on to the next attraction — the hotel’s grand buffet!
It was a first for the children (and I should admit, for most adults as well) to see and experience such a wide array of foods and desserts. The incredibly attractive range and display of desserts over a couple of large tables and a display fridge was sheer temptation. The kids could hardly wait — but we had to hold back these wild horses and take them through the just-as-large range of cold cuts, salads, cooked, grilled, baked, boiled, steamed….foods. There was definitely something for everyone, The hotel also generously served up the popular french fries, sausages, mini-hamburgers, soup right on their table for the kids to start with. So from starters to main meal and finally, they got to the delectable desserts! What a gastronomical journey! Though the restaurant was packed with more than 120 people that evening, we were given a private room and pampered as if we were the only ones there that mattered. That’s a wonderful reflection of a HOTEL with a HEART! Thank You all — staff and partners at the Plaza Athenee Le Meridien — YOU MADE everyone of these kids feel special, they felt your Love! Till we meet again next year!
