ORGANIC CONNECTIONS:
AT CTM, we connect needs to resources. Recently, we got to do this on a very personal level for a a poor villager selling raw honey. She came up to us at our charity stall, asking if we’d like to purchase a bottle. We did but then, we thought that there are probably alot of other ‘organic-minded’ folks like us out there who would appreciate this unprocessed honey. So we took a picture of her and the honeycombs in the bucket and posted it on Facebook, on a forum for expats. Soon enough, people were messaging and making their orders! We arranged for her and the buyers to come to our charity stall at Thonglor the next week.
Instead of this poor lady lugging around a bucket of honeycombs on the streets of Bangkok, trying to sell a bottle or two of honey, in just a click of a few buttons, we set her up with ready-made orders! On just a couple of days, she fulfilled the Facebook orders for 26 bottles of honey!!
Now people are still writing to ask if we’re going to set this honey meetup again! It was a real boost for our charity stall too as people who came for the honey also got to check out our stand. The honey is obtained from the forests of Chantaburi and collected by this family, to support their meagre income.
Besides this meetup, we also arranged a meeting for those who want to start their own organic herb gardens. We got in touch with our friend, Robert from Aquaponics Thailand, who came in from his farm to meet some of these expat families and explain what aquaponics is all about. Organically connecting the dots!
