Giving Is Contagious!
As we went on our rounds to distribute supplies to the slum communities yesterday, it was amazing to see a lady in the group just pay a food vendor there for all the grilled chicken and sticky rice she had, then offering this to every and anyone who wanted.
Someone else appeared out of nowhere, with her friends, bringing bags of large 1.5L water bottles to the truck, to add to what we were giving out!
This was our afternoon collaboration with Alicha Khon of the Haven Foundation Bangkok office and her team who organized this distribution of food, Vitamin C, and cleaning supplies for the urban poor, slum community, migrant workers’ shelter, and labor camps in the Lad Prao vicinity of the Foundation office.
Many of these folks have lost their jobs, and opportunities for income. The homes are makeshift, often with zinc roofing, or several families rooming together in a small area.
They brought cooked food, instant noodles, eggs, rice, other foodstuff and cleaning supplies while we brought 40 cartons of Foremost Thailand milk, PermaCorp Group of Companies’ special masks & school supplies, adult and kids’ clothes, football shoes, a box of soaps, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
This was surely an unexpected windfall for many of those folks who were so thankful to receive these supplies of clothes and especially the Vitamin C boost and milk for their kids! Thanks to friends and sponsors who all contributed to this endeavor to provide health, hygiene and other supplies to the disadvantaged at this time.
