Making Merry with Mime!
The children from the House of Blessing (a Home to nurture kids born in prisons, those orphaned, abandoned or who have no where to go) were treated to fun-filled morning with the Mime team of Peter and Pauline, visiting from Germany. With his striking yellow beret and stripey suit, Peter quickly got the kids’ attention, and got them to follow his actions of mimicking an elephant, bird, & a balloon being blown up. As we waited for more kids to join us, Peter quickly puilled out a couple of simple, but engaging games from his bag of goodies — like colored feathers which he challenged the kids to keep blowing, to keep ’em up! . Soon enough, it was Show Time and Peter performed a meaningful story in mime about the ups ad downs of life’s journey and the lesson of never giving up . At the end of the performance, it was great to see how the kids grasped the meaning, eventhough there wasn’t a word uttered by the actor — and despite the poetic narrative in English! After this, we handed out clothes to the children — thanks to the families of both KIS International School and St Andrews School — who gave so generously. These contributions have and will be distributed to all of CTM’s project partners including the Karen communities in Sangklaburi, Mae Sot, as well as the Emergency Home, Pakistani asylum-seekers and this House of Blessing.
