Christmas Charity Carnival 2015
December 7 ·
Caring & Connecting went up to a dizzy level this last month when we collaborated with almost 30 corporate & individual partners to bring the love and joy of Christmas to more than 80 children, teens, women and caregivers from three different disadvantaged communities.
On December 6th, a fine Sunday afternoon, the teams from the Emergency Home, the Home of Blessing and the Thanksgiving Home streamed into our CTM centre. The spacious garden was decked up in Carnival style with beautiful banners from #ColourfulInkjetco, #IKEA’s live Pine Christmas trees, #BangkokKidsParty’s giant Bouncy Castle, their XL-sized Trampoline, the ever-popular Dunk Tank the mechanical Rodeo Bull from #ThaiPartyRentals, playground equipment , our goat pen, our doggy display along with #ModishCo.’s beautiful stage/backdrop, tables & chairs from #URent!
Upon arriving, the kids made a beeline for the Trampoline, the Castle . The sound and ambiance in the garden was provided by #Conceptualevents, while the main electrical system was managed by #Bouygues-Thai. Thanks also to #Masterkool with their powerful water-cooling fans that kept us all comfortable despite the afternoon heat.
After serving up cookies, pastries and icecream from #KerryFlourMill, #PlazaAthenee, and #ChomthanaCremo, emcees Pi Tom and Poo welcomed everyone and shared the exciting program planned for them that day! We were so privileged to have an international Zumba team –Ruanda from South Africa, Kate from the Belarus and Jennifer from the UK — to literally kick off our program with their great Zumba dance moves to some popular hits. With chairs out of the way, everyone had enough space to stretch, shake, and boogie! We absolutely had to acknowledge & reward some adults and kids who were really rocking out and having a good time –their enthusiasm was rewarded with #ThaiGlico’s pocky sticks!
After Zumba, we lined up our guests and the kids in two lines for the Balloon Toss! The game’s meant to result in great splashin’ fun when the balloons break but unbeknownst to us, these Balloons from #BalloonArt2Go are of such good quality that they DIDN’T BREAK! It was hilarious as no matter how far the toss was and how often the balloons fell, they DIDN’T break! Ha! We again handed out Pocky prizes to just about all!
Finally, for the next hour, we gave everyone FREE PLAY time on the equipment. However, for the little guys who were already tired out from their earlier fun foray on the castle and trampoline, we invited them to paint the plaster dolls donated by #OliverOrnprapaRobert . At this time, the food was coming in from #Oishigroup with their o-bento Japanese delights, #McThai with a selection of burgers and pies as well as #MiracleGrandHotel with the dinner buffet of six dishes. Special thanks here to #Oishi again who helped out with the Food warmers! With all the fun and running around, everyone was grateful for the tasty and healthy thirst-quenchers from #MaleeEnterpriseco., #NestlePureLife and #Oishidrinks. It was soon time for our stage performances by the Homes’ kids/teens! The Thanksgiving Home opened with a great skit on the meaning of Christmas, how the Christ life was given to set man free from the trap & bondage of self-love,drugs, alcohol and money. This was followed by the cutest dance by the little kids from Bahn Dek of the Emergency Home. Afterwhich, the bigger girls and teens showed off their dancing skills. The kids & teens from the Home of Rest nicely complemented the talent show by singing two sweet songs. The grand finale was an awesome performance by the children from the Thanksgiving Home who provided a musical pantomine “Giraffes Can’t Dance” – (see video posted earlier) how with love and encouragement, we can all do what we thought we couldn’t. (to be posted). Finally, dinner time!! There was such an array of food, with more than enough that we packed extra food for the homes to take back with them. Towards the end of dinner, we arranged for two teams of children to play pinata (generously donated by #Anna&Angel), while we conducted the raffle for our guests. Thanks to #Loynava for the riverboatcruise vouchers, #PlazaAthenee for buffet vouchers, #Oishisisters for hydrating spa cap #Giordarno for shopping vouchers #Oishigroup for buffet vouchers, Dasy Design for body beauty product and McThai for McDonald meals. When the kids returned, it was their turn to receive gifts — Santa (aka #BosoFiore) assisted by Steven who helped wrap most of the 70 gifts! To end the evening with a literal bang, we handed out sparklers to everyone and shot up several colored crackers into the night sky. We thought we had come to the end — but dear friends and professional dancers – #Alice #NittayaChuayUdom and her friend, came on stage and just mesmerised everyone with a stunning dance! Afterwhich, they came up and started an interactive dance performance, getting all the teens and kids up on stage with them! What a fitting finale to the last six hours of non-stop fun! It really was more than we planned for, but we’re just so thankful for everyone who’s shown us that there’s no limit to what LOVE can do when we think, give and live from our HEARTS! This will stay in the hearts of these kids and teens for a long time yet! Thanks professional photographer Brian K Boeck and Peter Ericsson for capturing these beautiful moments for us. We’d also like to thank Adeline Miu, Tong Garden, Didier Morales, Hester Chew, Sang Sook Co. KIS school families and everyone of our partners — whose contributions have gone a long way to support our work, enabling us to help others and provide opportunities like this! Wishing you the reality of the love, peace and joy of Christmas at this time and all through the new year too! Stay blessed!
‘With the Charis truck, we were also able to send 100 kg of flour (they make bread, pasries and noodles out of this for their food at the shelter) and several boxes of lined exercised books for the children at the Feed My Lambs shelter. As of the new school year, migrant schools insist that each student should have a lined 80-page exercise book for each subject! That’s alot of books! Thank God for our angel in Adeline Miu who came to the rescue and bought all the books needed!’
‘Our NEXT MAJOR EVENT! Dec. 6th December!! Christmas Charity Carnival 2015!!! Come one, come all! If you need a map or more info, drop us a PM here’
‘Merry Christmas! Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all men!’
‘A letter from one of our regular volunteers, Tamrerk : Deb, here is the picture I took with my lecturer at the World Vesak day. We were presented with the award of Good Moral of the organization. I would like to say thank you so much for inviting us to join CTM events and also, for being the person who shifted my direction of life… I have created some humanitarian projects here at school and they have motivated and driven people in a positive way, I started out with almost only myself. There were few friends who helped but now it’s expanding here and a lot of people see it and would like to be a part of it when they see the success and how all things have an impact on the people. I saw that and somehow I am touched with something powerful — love, affection and care of people for other people. I just would like to write here that I appreciate your existence in my life and Thank God who makes everything happen’
