CTM’s Christmas Charity Carnival 2013
On December 22nd, thanks to many, many (33 companies to be exact!) corporate and individual sponsors, children and teens from four different Homes — the Rangsit Babies’ Home, the Emergency Home, the Thanksgiving and Rachawadee Girls’ Home — were treated to an afternoon of Carnival fun & games hosted by THAI PARTY RENTALS who provided a giant-sized inflatable playhouse, trampoline, rock-climbing and rodeo experiences along with ‘tattoo-painting’, sculptured balloons, popcorn and cotton candy carts and clown from BANGKOK KIDS’ PARTY!
As you can see from the pictures, everyone had a whale of a time & great fun — sliding, jumping, climbing and just trying to stay on that wild bull!
Another major piece of equipment which we are very thankful for and essential for our function was the professionally-run mobile rest-rooms provided by VS SERVICES.
We have to also thank The ROBERTS for their generous contribution of clay figurines which both kids and teens loved painting up.
Thanks to PLAZA ATHENEE LE MERIDIEN and the REMBRANDT Hotels, we had a good variety of cakes and muffins to keep everyone happily snacking while they waited their turn . Drinks from MALEE Enterprise, TESCO LOTUS, COCA-COLA COMPANY with Nam Thip water and the popular sodas kept everyone hydrated!
As evening came around, we all proceeded into the garden of CTM centre where a stage, courtesy of MODISH Co., was erected with a beautiful backdrop. It was time for the kids from these different homes to show off. Three little girls represented the Rangsit Babies’ Home and they absolutely mesmerised the audience with a BOLLYWOOD dance! Wow! The orphanage has always been known for their dance presentations, having performed traditional Thai to Korean to GangNam and now Indian!! After the performance, our dear emcee, Pat Lillethun, got everybody up to see if we could try shimmy our bodies and gyrate the belly and hips as well as those little girls did! Ha! Great laughs all around at our pathetic efforts!
The Emergency Home girls came up next and gave us a rousing choreographed song — nice to see kids and teens together in that number!
The finale was the Rachawadee and Thanksgiving Homes who combined forces to give us an imaginative upbeat Magic Show! A commendable effort from all!
All the performances were possible and enhanced by VINRADE who provided the professional sound and laser lighting for the stage . Alvin and team not only played technician and deejay, but also came prepared by bags of stuffed toys which was given out to every child after a dance game with dizzying laser lights all around! Wow!
By this time, tummies were calling out and we shifted to another part of the garden where tables were nicely laid out with MCDONALD’S burgers, OISHI’s o-bentos and an impressive array of 10 Thai dishes and dessert from the MIRACLE GRAND CONVENTION HOTEL. They also supplemented our beverages with their drinks cooler of orange juice for kids. We were privileged to have Khun Pearly and Khun Two from Miracle Grand join us for part of the evening where they presented gifts to the Emergency Home and the Thanksgiving Home of electric equipment they needed.
This whole area of the garden was lighted up by the ingenious efforts of BOUYGUES THAI electrician, Khun Pramote and his assistant who managed to connect and light up the garden with spotlights as well as the beautiful decorative lights from NAINVIRAT and WP TRADING.
During dinner, we were entertained by the soothing sounds of Christmas carols beautifully performed on the flute by a very talented Thai teen, Klaw Pakorn. She is also able to play four other musical instruments! Our dear friend, Leila also entertained us with Christmas favorites with her incredibly great vocals.
Soon after dinner, the kids all flocked back to the stage area – eagerly anticipating their gifts! Thanks to the KIS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL PYP families, we had a contribution of gifts for every one there.
All too soon, our festivities come to an end with lots of photos, hugs, and snack bags from TONG GARDEN &THAI GLICO for the Homes to take back.
A Word of Thanks to our wildly willing volunteers & students from Webster University, NIVA International, KIS international and other friends who came and helped with the games, the food, the errands, the set up, cleanup…etc… Wow! We couldn’t have done it with all of you!
Oh yes, and everyone of our visitors and volunteers also walked away with a gift from our generous lucky draw sponsors including pizza/McDonald/Oishi vouchers, massage spas, hotel stays and restaurant meals, river cruises, tours, overseas resort accommodation and air tickets. Space limits us here to thank each and every corporate and individual sponsor who contributed to make this event a monumental success. Please know that your kindness and generosity lives on in the hearts of the many lives that experienced this festive day at our Christmas Carnival 2013!
What an event to remember!
